Elizabeth Olsen Doesn't Want a Solo Scarlet Witch Movie

As we move into Avengers: Infinity War, fans are wondering what the next slate of Marvel films is going to look like. We have no idea at the moment, but there are some established characters that don't have their own solo movie yet. One of those characters is Wanda Maximoff, aka Scarlet Witch, as played by Elizabeth Olsen. She's a fairly popular character who is also insanely powerful and a character dealing with a lot of trauma that, unfortunately, has yet to be addressed in the movies. When Olsen appeared on the podcast Everything Iconic with Danny Pellegrino she was asked if a solo Scarlet Witch adventure is in the works.

"We are at ground zero. It's definitely not something I'm pushing. I don't know if it's something they're going to push either. [Avengers costar] Paul Bettany and I joke about having a domestic television show on Netflix or something. It would just be like a house event, where Scarlet Witch goes bananas. That's what we joke about, but I don't think either of those things are happening. I'm happy I'm still around and they still use me."

It sounds like Olsen is quite happy where she is — it's just unfortunate that there isn't enough time in the movies to address some of the things she's been through. In the comics, if either of the Maximoff twins are killed, the other takes it very, very badly. Pietro died in Age of Ultron and has never been brought up again. That is the kind of breathing room a solo production gives, but it sounds like it isn't in the cards for now. Maybe she can play second fiddle to someone in Phase 4 and get some character development like Black Widow did in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Summary: As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment – the fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain.

Avengers: Infinity War, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, stars Robert Downey Jr., Josh Brolin, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Bettany, Chadwick Boseman, Benedict Wong, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Pom Klementieff, Scarlett Johansson, Don Cheadle, Tom Holland, Bradley Cooper, Sean Gunn, and Anthony Mackie. It will be released on April 27th.
