Being a fan of AMC's The Walking Dead, you learn pretty early on that losing people is part of the price you pay for being a part of the shows eight-plus seasons — and still, it's never easy. But when we lose a member of our TWD "fan family," that loss cuts wider and deeper across every one of us — and that loss is particularly heavy this week with news that Lisa Williams, TWD superfan and regular at conventions and other show-related events, passed away on Tuesday after battling cancer.

Williams won a fan contest to have the opportunity to interview the TWD cast for Entertainment Weekly (posted below); an experience that EW's Dalton Ross shared as his memory of Williams on Twitter:

Devastated to hear about the passing of #TWD superfan @lcwilli1. I got to know Lisa when she won @EW's fan contest to interview the cast of #thewalkingdead and she was an absolute joy throughout the entire process. She will be truly missed. #RIPLisa

The cast and crew of TWD also took to social media to mourn the loss of a beloved fan and friend of the show:

"We're deeply saddened to learn about the passing of Lisa Williams, who was one of the most passionate people (and #TWD fans) you could meet," reads a post on the official Walking Dead Twitter account. "The outpouring of love that's coming with this news goes to show how much of an impact she had on #TWDFamily. You will be missed…"

"A big part of our Walking Dead family Lisa Williams has been battling stage 3 lung cancer and we just wanted to send out a little video to wish her well and show our love and support for her. Get well girl!we love you, Jeffrey, Norman & Sean. #jeffreydeanmorgan #normanreedus #thewalkingdead #walkingdead #negan #daryldixon #theboondocksaints #fuckcancer #conventionallstars"

"When Eric and I started the Walker Stalkers, we did so to give people the experience of a lifetime. We wanted to use it as a vehicle to spread joy and just love on people. Lisa Williams, one of our lifetime Platinums, was the living essence of what we envisioned. And she exceeded those expectations, as she utilized her love and position to raise money to serve others through her charitable endeavors. She used her lifetime to give experiences to others. Her memory and legacy doesn't end with her unfortunate passing. She fought against the disease that took her.

We'll continue to carry her torch, as I'm sure many others will too. Her lifetime Platinum pass doesn't end with her lifetime, it will go on through the lifetime of others. We will honor her pass and her memory by bringing in deserving people who are battling or have conquered cancer. The Lisa Williams Lifetime Platinum Pass will be used as long as Walker Stalker Con continues on. Her pass will go unused this weekend in Chicago, in her honor. And her panel seat, at the request of Merri True, our panel coordinator, will sit empty. But our hearts will be ever more filled because we were touched and loved by Lisa.

Let's continue, as a family, to honor her last effort and help her reach her fundraising goal to support the Team Andy Lincoln / Bernardo's charity. I encourage you to do so, if you are able. #WSCFamily #WeLoveYouLisa
