It’s Not a Stretch: Marvel Legends Has Released the Best Reed Richards Figure Yet

Marvel Legends fans: we are only one figure away from having a complete Fantastic Four team. I know I have been waiting for years for these to come; it has been way too long. After successful releases last year of Sue and Johnny Storm, the third figure to exclusively hit Walgreens is Reed Richards.

Reed comes in the standard and familiar packaging we all know and love. The difference is that this is the Fantastic Four and the blues really pop with the black borders. I’m going to need another to keep on card.

Reed comes with interchangeable arms and the ultimate nullifier, which you need to be careful with. It is tiny and can be lost easily. The headsculpt here is amazing. Perfect grey streaks on in his hair, an eyebrow raised in wonder — everything about this is perfect. It is exactly what I wanted. He is well articulated, and my figure has no problems in the paint ap department whatsoever. My only ding is that he is just a hair too short. It is not really that much of an issue, but put him next to Johnny and they are the same size. A tad disappointing, but far from a problem for me at least.

No, my problem with this guy is actually one of the main selling points: the extended arms. They are more rigid than I was expecting, especially where the elbow would be. Getting him to stay posed with these arms is a little bit of a challenge, ideally you need to keep one regular arm on him as well to keep his balance. Working them over a bit more might do the trick, but right out of the box they are very firm. They are quite easy to change in and out, however, so that’s a plus. The visual of them is hilarious — as frustrating as it was to pose him, it makes for something different on your shelf.

Overall, of course you should buy this. Every Marvel legends collection should have the FF in it, no matter what. Reed is my second favorite of the four so far — Sue is still the reigning champ. With Thing coming later this year, however, that may be short lived.

If you would like to buy one of these for yourself, Reed is in stores now — or you can order him online right now.
