Archie’s Alex Segura seems to be quite busy. Not only is he Co-President of Archie Comics, but he also co-writes their ongoing The Archies comic. That alone seems like more than a full-time gig.

But as many know, Segura also moonlights as a mystery novelist — and his books seem to be getting some more acclaim.

Earlier this week, Bookbub, a popular website that offers readers daily ebook deals and more, released a list titled “22 of the Biggest Mystery and Thriller Books Coming in Spring 2018.” The article features the usual number of heavy hitters — names like Stephen King, David Baldacci, Dean Koontz, Brad Meltzer, and… Segura?

Blackout, the newest installment in what we can now safely call Segura’s acclaimed Pete Fernandez series featuring a Cuban-American private eye set in Segura’s hometown of Miami, has also been getting buzz from other book sites as we get closer to its May 8th publication date, via Polis Books. Not bad for a guy who once sent my eldest daughter a load of kids stuff from DC Comics that she would dismiss one by one, including the company logo.

The logo didn’t last a year.

By the way, Alice is a lot more open to this stuff these days…
