James Gunn Says He’s a Better Director Than Trump is a President

Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn has seen great success in his film career, with such hits as Guardians of the Galaxy Vols. 1 and 2, as well as Scooby Doo: Monsters Unleashed. Donald Trump is the president of the United States, with accomplishments such as allegedly paying off a porn star to not share photos of his penis and somehow managing to not yet start World War 3. While it might seem difficult to compare success at these two jobs — one, making popular movies, the other, being the leader of the free world — but Gunn has found a way, and he finds Donald Trump’s performance lacking.

Referring to Trump’s joking about the extremely high rate of turnover in his White House, Gunn took to Twitter to put words in the president’s mouth.

“‘Hahaha! I’m incredibly fucking incompetent!'” Gunn Tweeted, speaking as Trump. “‘Hahahaha! I can’t hire anyone worthwhile because I’m a moron! Hahaha! I mean you guys should have known after most my businesses completely failed and US banks wouldn’t even lend me money! Hahaha! Who’s next?!'”

When another Twitter user responded to say that Trump had to clear out employees who were blocking his agenda, Gunn responded, “I would be the worst director in the world if 50% of the people I hired I either fired or quit. A director, like a President, needs to be able to accurately appraise others’ characters and talents to get the job done. Trump is incapable of this, and unfit to be President.”

For comparison, all of the major stars from Gunn’s first Guardians of the Galaxy movie returned for the sequel. Likewise, Freddy Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard, and Linda Cardellini all returned to reprise their live action roles in the Scooby Doo sequel, while Neil Fanning returned to voice the titular dog. So far, Gunn’s claims pass all fact-checks. It looks like, indeed, James Gunn is a better director than Donald Trump is a president.

Maybe he’ll consider running for office in 2020?

About Jude Terror

A prophecy says that in the comic book industry's darkest days, a hero will come to lead the people through a plague of overpriced floppies, incentive variant covers, #1 issue reboots, and super-mega-crossover events.

Scourge of Rich Johnston, maker of puns, and seeker of the Snyder Cut, Jude Terror, sadly, is not the hero comics needs right now... but he's the one the industry deserves.
