Marvel Turns Tom Beland's Cartoon Into a Black Panther #1 Variant Cover

Cartoonist Tom Beland posted this cartoon on the release of Black Panther, focusing on the self-identification aspects of the movie and the importance of representation.

It went ballistic on social media. It was described as 'awesome' by Black Panther star Michael B. Jordan. Beland says,

"My sister died in October and I've been suffering since. Drawing helps me deal with my depression. I have to say that the reaction over my cartoon, something that came out of my head, has been monumentally helpful for my emotional spirit. I so wish she was around to see this. So thank you for the bottom of a heart for a bracing my little cartoon. #wakandaforever"

And Marvel Comics liked it so much that they are turning it into a variant cover for the new Black Panther #1 relaunch. As well as a colour version with Jordie Bellaire.

Retailers have also been told they can use any orders for these editions towards qualifications for other tiered covers for the launch.
