Ryan Higgins, owner of the Comics Conspiracy comic book store in California, posted the following note.
New Captain Marvel comic? Pssh, I'll order the token 2 copies I have of the last 40 issues. It just doesn't sell.
*someone whispers from off screen*
So, I'm thinking I'm going to get 100 copies of Captain Marvel #1. Maybe 200? More? pic.twitter.com/0I1IQf6I4q

That’s The Legacy of Captain Marvel #1, a mini-series launching as part of Marvel’s Fresh Start. A series with the same writer as before, with a new issue 1 and an origin retelling. As Ryan says, he wasn’t expecting to order more. But what was the whisper?
Turns out Stanley “Artgerm” Lau is doing a variant cover. And we have seen how that has affected recent issues of Supergirl and Thor. He does have a certain fanbase who are quite happy to judge a comic book by its cover.
And the same with Black Panther #1 as well of course, with breakout character Shuri….
He earned that place on last year’s Power List. I expect a bump for the next one…
LIFE OF CAPTAIN MARVEL #1
CAPTAIN MARVEL – THE HOMECOMING!
Carol Danvers was just a girl from the Boston suburbs who loved science and the Red Sox until a chance encounter with a Kree hero gave her incredible super powers. Now, she’s a leader in the Avengers and the commander of Alpha Flight. But what if there was more to the story? When crippling anxiety attacks put her on the sidelines in the middle of a fight, Carol finds herself reliving memories of a life she thought was far behind her. You can’t outrun where you’re from – and sometimes, you HAVE to go home again. But there are skeletons in Captain Marvel’s closet – and what she discovers will change her entire world. Written by bestselling author Margaret Stohl and drawn by fan-favorite comics veteran Carlos Pacheco, this is the true origin of Captain Marvel.
