Warner Bros Wisely Moves the Release Date of Rampage Up a Week

In an attempt to not get crushed horribly at the box office, Warner Bros has decided to move the release date of Rampage from April 20th to April 13th according to The Hollywood Reporter. Before Avengers: Infinity War moved, Rampage had a nice two weeks where it wasn't going to have any huge competition. Since a movie can only make so much in its first weekend (unless your title starts with "black" and ends with "panther") studios need that second week to recoup their budgets. Rampage moving up a week means it, once again, has a nice two week period where it doesn't have any major competition.

The move will effect Ready Player One in some way, though. Ready Player One originally had three weeks where it was the only big release and now it has just two. Warner Bros must know that the movie, no matter the fact that it's apparently "testing very strongly", stands a chance against Infinity War. They would rather nudge their own production, Ready Player One, out of the way than risk going against Infinity War and losing. Probably a smart move on their part.

Summary: Primatologist Davis Okoye (Johnson), a man who keeps people at a distance, shares an unshakable bond with George, the extraordinarily intelligent, silverback gorilla who has been in his care since birth. But a rogue genetic experiment gone awry transforms this gentle ape into a raging monster. To make matters worse, it's soon discovered there are other similarly altered alpha predators. As these newly created monsters tear across North America, destroying everything in their path, Okoye teams with a discredited genetic engineer to secure an antidote, fighting his way through an ever-changing battlefield, not only to halt a global catastrophe but to save the fearsome creature that was once his friend.

Rampage, directed by Brad Peyton, stars Dwayne Johnson, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Naomie Harris, Malin Akerman, and Joe Manganiello. It will be released on April 20th.
