Stranger Things 3: Maya Thurman-Hawke Cast; Priah Ferguson Recurring

While it's most likely going to be a little while longer before our eyeballs are treated to to Season 3 of Netflix's sci-fi hit series Stranger Things, the streaming service is giving fans some casting news to salivate over for now. Maya Thurman-Hawke (Little Women) will be joining the cast as a new series lead; and Priah Ferguson's Erica is being moved to an important recurring role.

Never to do things in the "typical" manner, Netflix took to Twitter for the casting reveals:

Bored with her mundane day job, Thurman-Hawke's "alternative girl" is looking for some excitement in her life. She gets more than she bargained for when she uncovers a dark secret hidden deep within Hawkins, Indiana.

Ferguson last appeared in the Stranger Things 2; and this season, Lucas's strong-willed, scene-stealing little sister Erica starts spreading her wings and developing her own group of friends. No longer content with sitting on the sidelines, Erica and her friends find themselves on a wild mission to save Hawkins from a deadly new threat.

Thurman-Hawke is the lead in BBC and Masterpiece's new miniseries adaptation of Louisa May Alcott's classic novel Little Women; airing in the U.K. in December 2017, the miniseries is set to premiere on PBS in the U.S. in May. Ferguson's most recent projects include FX's Atlanta and PBS's Mercy Street.

Stranger Things stars Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers; David Harbour as Chief Jim Hopper; Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler; Noah Schnapp as Will Byers; Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven; Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair; Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson; Cara Buono as Karen Wheeler; Natalia Dyeras Nancy Wheeler; Charlie Heaton as Jonathan Byers; Joe Keery as Steve Harrington; Dacre Montgomery as Billy; and Sadie Sink as Max.

Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer (The Duffer Brothers) are returning for Season 3 as showrunners; and will executive produce alongside Shawn Levy, Iain Paterson, and Dan Cohen of 21 Laps.
