Arrow Season 6: Why is Roy Harper Returning to Star City?

We're still over a week away from the return of Arrow and when it does come back we'll be dealing with the episode called Collision Coarse that will pit OTA (Original Team Arrow) versus NTA (Not Team Arrow) and also show us Quentin (Paul Blackthorne) trying to save Black Siren (Katie Cassidy). But it's the episode after that could really make things interesting as an old friend returns to Star City. The long awaited return of Roy Harper (Colton Haynes) for the start of a multi-episode arc.

The episode is called Doppelganger and has the following synopsis: Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Thea (Willa Holland) are shocked to hear that Roy Harper (Guest star Colton Haynes) is back in Star City. However, when they discover the circumstances of Roy's return, Oliver and Thea realize Roy is in trouble and jump into save him. Black Siren (Katie Cassidey) makes a shocking decision.

There has been a lot of speculation about Roy's return and how many believe that his return arc will end with her and Thea going off to be together. Willa Holland has scaled back the number of episodes she's been doing the last two years, it wouldn't be a stretch to think this might be her last season.

The interesting part of the synopsis is the fact Roy comes back to town without letting anyone know and that he's in trouble upon his return. Also, the title Doppelganger is interesting in that it could refer to Black Siren… or maybe it means that this Roy is from Earth-2.

Arrow returns March 1st at 9 PM on the CW.
