WWE and Rich Swann "Mutually Part Ways" After Domestic Violence Arrest

WWE and Rich Swann have "mutually agreed to part ways as of today, February 15, 2018," according to a statement issued on WWE.com. Swann was arrested back in December following an incident between and his girlfriend, fellow wrestler Su Yung. According to the police report, Yung alleged that Swann chased her when she tried to exit his vehicle and forced her back into the car, leading to a charge of false imprisonment.

In January, the charges against Swann were dropped due to "lack of evidence," and Swann's lawyer announced plans to get Swann back into WWE. However, it appears that didn't work out. WWE has a zero tolerance policy for domestic violence, immediately suspending Swann when he was arrested. In past cases, suspended wrestlers have been fired if convicted or allowed to return if legally cleared, but the resolution to Swann's case was less than definitive.

Enzo Amore, former Cruiserweight Champion on the 205 Live show that Swann also performed on, was released by WWE in January after a suspension following the surfacing of a sexual assault investigation from October which is still ongoing. Amore was still champion at the time, prompting WWE to change directions with the brand. In 2016, WWE wrestler Adam Rose parted ways with WWE after a domestic violence arrest. The charges against Rose were later dropped after Rose sought professional help.

In the statement, WWE wished Swann well in his future endeavors, which they did not do in the case of Amore.
