Stories Shuts Two Comic Stores in Virginia, No Longer a Chain

Richmond Virginia comic book chain Stories Comics… is no longer a chain. They have closed two of their comic book stores, one on Forest Hill, the other in Colonial Heights. The stock from the first has been bought by an unknown buyer from Massachusetts. The stock from the second has been moved to the remaining Stories Comics in West Broad.

That store has also been sold to long-time employee of the store, Salvatore Filingeri.

Previous owner Cheryl Pryor, who had owned the store for almost twenty-five years wanted to get out of the business, and this was way it worked out. On their Facebook page last week, they announced,

We are proud to keep the tradition and history of Stories Comics in Richmond, Virginia open at our West Broad location. Like you, we were sad to hear the decision to close the stores at Forest Hill and Colonial Heights. We remain locally owned and operated and appreciate your business.

Due to change in ownership prior notification was beyond our control.

We have been able to absorb the inventory from Colonial Heights and are working on integrating it at West Broad. Chris from Colonial Heights is pitching in and we hope he sticks around for a long time. Items on hold from Colonial Heights & Forest Hill have been moved to West Broad effective immediately and all items will be held for 30 days to give you a chance to come visit us and hopefully continue your service.

We are diligently working on transfer of the subscription boxes to West Broad but if you come by and these have not been switched over we are ready to get you set up and assist with pulling any items you may have had on hold.

However, it appears that while stock and pull lists may have been moved over, store credit has not…
