Is Lauren Cohan Leaving the Walking Dead?

Early reports are coming in on offers for 2018 broadcasts and Deadline is reporting that one of the hot names is actress Lauren Cohan who plays Maggie on AMC's The Walking Dead. This will come as quite a shot to fans of the hit series as her character is alive and well on the show. She first in season two and became a series regular with season three. But her contract is up at the end of season eight and she is reported to having received close to a half-dozen offers so far.

There have been rumors that Cohan has wanted parity with her male co-stars Andrew Lincoln and Norman Reedus, who are paid significantly more than all of their female colleagues. But the report says that this was brought up but not made a make-or-break requirement. Lincoln and Reedus have been with the show longer and appear in more scenes than other actors in the series. AMC offered a modest salary increase for a long-term contract which was rejected, but that's pretty normal in negotiations. But no further offers or talks have been reported meaning that Cohan is free to entertain new offers.

The popularity of the series and her character makes her highly sought after to lead a new series and she is taking pilot meetings. But talks with AMC is said to continue, leaving it possible that Cohan will return. A ninth season has already been approved and Angela Kang has been named the new showrunner.
