Overwatch's Patch Brings Huge Mercy Nerf and Xbox One X 4K Support

The long awaited 'Mercy nerf' patch of Overwatch has now gone live, bringing with it 4K on Xbox One X.

Mercy has been a bit of a problem since her massive rework a few months back. She is the most popular hero in the game, the most played according to Blizzard, but she was also seen as pretty overpowered. You only have to look at the Overwatch League to see how prevalent she is and just how important it is to a team fight when Mercy goes down. A few weeks ago, the developer put up a pretty intense nerf to Mercy on the PTR to try and right this issue, marking one of the most drastic down-tunings in the game's history.  To the horror of many Mercy mains and the cheers of a lot of others, those changes are now live.

Last night the patch hit, and you can play with Mercy who has significantly clipped wings, with her resurrect now reduced to one during Ult, while her speed and cast time have also seeing nerfs during Valkyrie. She's not the only character who has seen changes though, with Junkrat's concussion mines seeing a bit of a nerf too to bring their random nature down a little bit. Compared to Mercy though, it's merely a bit of a tickle for the explosives expert.

On top of that, 4K support has come with the Xbox One X, so that's a nice added extra.

Here are the full patch notes to sink your teeth into:

General updates

[XB1] Added 4K support for Xbox One X

Hero updates

-Mercy (Valkyrie)

No longer makes Resurrect instant
No longer grants a bonus Resurrect charge
The speed bonus Guardian Angel receives when activating Valkyrie has been decreased by 50%
Duration reduced from 20 seconds to 15 seconds

-Junkrat (Concussion Mine)

Now will deal less damage to targets farther away from the explosion's centre
Bug fixes

Fixed a bug that caused D.Va's face and hair textures to not load when her Black Cat skin was equipped

Seeing how this all works out in the meta is going to be fascinating. It's not clear how viable she is, and as you'd imagine, people who play here are making their voice heard in the forums. I have a feeling she will see some touches in the near future to bring her up a bit.
