WWE Renews Commitment to Nu Metal Genre With New Raw Theme Song by Papa Roach

More than 15 years after the height of its popularity, the genre of music known as Nu Metal, along with its close cousin, Rap Metal, are alive and well in one very important place: WWE. WWE jumped on the Nu Metal bandwagon in the 1990s and has never jumped off to this today, with its wrestler and television show theme songs remaining one of the few places outside of local fairgrounds where fans can continue to indulge in the sounds of the late '90s/early 2000s.

Perhaps WWE is only still hanging on at this point because the period is due for a nostalgia revival soon. Perhaps Vince McMahon just really digs the music. Whatever the case, WWE has continued to be the biggest source of income for aging Nu Metal rockers over the past decade, and they show no signs of stopping.

According to a report from Wrestling Inc, along with some visual changes to the Monday Night Raw set, Raw is getting a brand new… or nu, as the case may be… theme song. Though there was no opening video last night, a new song was played during the bumpers and will probably debut at the opening of the show next week. The song in question is Born for Greatness by the band Papa Roach, who you probably remember from their 2000 hit Last Resort, which also happens to be what most people would consider Papa Roach when trying to come up with a new theme song for their television show in 2018.

This isn't the first time Papa Roach has provided the theme song for Raw. Their song …To Be Loved was the theme song of Raw from 2006 to 2009.

Other Raw theme bands have included The Union Underground

Nickelback

and Shinedown

And now, Papa Roach has become a two-time Raw theme song contributor. If you want to try to start building up your tolerance now, you can listen to the song in the video below:
