Some Of PlayStation's Most Recognisable Faces are Getting Amiibo-Like Figures

Sony has sanctioned several figures based on some recognisable PlayStation classics, baring more than a passing resemblance to Nintendo's Amiibo range.

Some Of PlayStation's Most Recognisable Faces are Getting Amiibo-Like Figures

Amiibos really took off in an interesting way. They still remain popular with each new batch put out, and while what they do in games in terms of bonus varies wildly in usefulness, the high-quality figure production means that many fans don't have any objection to picking them up and keeping them on display. It seems Sony is now ready to jump on that draw… somewhat.

The company announced a 'Totaku' line of toys, which while not being made by the company (it's being put together by ThinkGeek), does have their seal of approval. The characters coming include Heihachi from Tekken, Sackboy from LittleBigPlanet, Crash Bandicoot, the Hunter from Bloodborne, Parappa the Rapper and the Feisar FX350 from Wipeout. The key difference between these figures and an Amiibo is these don't offer any in-game rewards. If you look at the boxes for the figures though, I think you will agree they are at least… evocative of the Nintendo figures. You can take a look at them in this trailer:

The figures are said to be going on sale at Game on March 23, 2018. My gut feeling is that these most certainly won't get a push quite like Amiibo, but who knows. If they do well, maybe the series will expand. We will have to see on that front. Little figures of video game characters certainly have done well in the past, so I don't see any reason that these wont.

Thanks Eurogamer.
