The Master of Horror John Carpenter turns 70 years young today. He just finished an ambitious world tour, where his band performed notable tracks from his films’ soundtracks to sold-out crowds. He’s also going to be involved with the newest Halloween revisit, reportedly writing a few cues for the flick.
This morning, however, review giant Rotten Tomatoes tweeted maybe not the most well-researched thing in the world. The site, which was more than likely just trying to get their editorial out there, worded their Carpenter birthday tweet poorly.
Here’s a screenshot of the now-deleted tweet:
Needless to say, “would have been” can only be taken one way, and the internet reacted. Obviously, it was only a matter of time before John himself commented on the matter.
To Rotten Tomatoes, despite how it appears, I'm actually not dead.

RT has since tweeted this sentiment:
Sorry for the mix up earlier, the fog was heavy this morning. Happy 70th birthday John Carpenter! pic.twitter.com/k7sCznczl9

We’re pretty damn glad John is still with us — there’s no telling what other amazing tales we’ll get from the Master.
