Overwatch League Gets a New App Just Ahead Of Its Launch

There are a lot of eyes on the Overwatch League which is starting tomorrow. It probably is one of the wildest, most ambitious esports ventures out there, creating an international league composed of teams who reportedly needed $20 million to buy into the league. Things like player contracts, strict rules and a rigid league system set it apart, and add on top of that, the rather ludicrous production value it provides for an ongoing competition.

If you are as interested in following how it all shakes out though as I am, there is a new app out there which should make it much easier to follow. Blizzard put out the app on iOS and Android and it seems like it will be an easy to use hub for the league. You can watch games as they happen, watch matches on demand, get alerts for when games are about to happen. On top of that, there will be news, interviews, team breakdowns and analysis packed in it too. That all sounds handy if you are like me and only have a pretty loose idea of the competitive Overwatch scene.

Of course, if you don't want to download it to your phone, you could just head to the official website. All this is there too.

That being said, I can't help myself being genuinely interested in seeing how Overwatch League shakes out. The pre-season showed that the presentation is there and the possibility for very exciting matches is absolutely there as well. I'll certainly be staying up from the UK to watch a few of the games tomorrow. This whole thing looks and sounds expensive, and certainly incredibly risky, so there is every chance it could crash and burn. Right now though, there is tons to be hopeful about around the league.
