WB Films's Game of Thrones Begins Anew as Geoff Johns Invites Walter Hamada to Twitter

Walter Hamada was just named the new head of DC Films today, but his colleagues are already seemingly scheming to trip him up in his new job. In a tweet that looked friendly on the surface but was, in fact, an insidious act that could set in motion a sequence of complex events that lead directly to Hamada's downfall, disgraced DC Film exec Geoff "Jeff" Johns welcomed his new boss and encouraged him to start a Twitter account.

While Johns's invitation appears, on the surface, to be pleasant, as a seasoned veteran of the comic book industry, Johns must know as well as anyone how dangerous Twitter can be. Not only is the social media platform infested with Nazis, racists, misogynists, transphobes, trolls, President Donald Trump, and all manner of other terrible human beings out to make life miserable for anyone they disagree with, but the service is also a tremendous time-waster that drains the productivity of even the most dedicated workers.

Since Hamada doesn't have a Twitter account, he can't possibly know what happens on the website. For example, Hamada has no clue that his every tweet will be monitored by unscrupulous websites looking to take anything he says out of context and spin it off into a clickbait article with a salacious headline referencing a popular cable drama. Further, while Hamada has met with success at New Line pictures on films like The Conjuring and It, Johns knows that Twitter is an exceptionally volatile place for anyone involved with the DCEU, which is at the heart of a culture war between rabid fans and equally rabid haters.

Hamada has literally no experience dealing with Twitter haters, and Johns wants him to simply jump right into the shark tank after just being put in charge of the entire DCEU. To the untrained eye, Johns' tweet is a warm welcome to his colleague in a new role, but to those of who know better, it's the most dangerous invitation ever received since the one that read "Lords Frey and Bolton request your company to witness the nuptials of Robb Stark and Talisa Maegyr…"

Walter, if you're reading this, heed our warning: stay away from Twitter, and don't listen to anything Geoff Johns says. Especially if he suggests you bring Zack Snyder back for Justice League 2.
