Screaming At Robots in the Era of Donald Trump

It was pretty big news this month when Disney unveiled their robotic Donald Trump, the newest member of their Hall of Presidents. What seemed to make it big news… or 'big league'… was the fact that robot doesn't look very much like the 45th President. When I first saw it, I thought maybe they had begun working on a Hilary Clinton robot and then the election happened and they didn't want to start from scratch. I'm not even sure how Disney approved it. I mean, there are kids who might see that. I say might because there are no kids who want to go to the Hall of Presidents and the ones who are forced to are more likely playing with their phones through the ride. But hey, one of them might look up at the wrong time and Sweet Jiminy the therapy bills that would cause.

Trump

A few days back, the Trumpian replicant was back in the news as an audience member started shouting, "Lock him up!" repeatedly while the orang-ish android gave his pre-recorded speech. Some have called him a hero, others used less kind words, his birth certificate calls him Jay Malsky and he talked about the incident with Josh Young over a Theme Park University.  Seems Jay is a comedian and actor currently performing Jay Malsky Slept With My Boyfriend at Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in Hells Kitchen, New York. It's a musical!

He was asked if he planned to make a protest prior to going on the ride or if it was a spur of the moment decision.

Donald Trump is a madman with fascist tendencies who has persuaded millions of middle-class Americans to vote against their own interests. I figured a bunch of them would be at this ride and wanted to show their kids what a protest looks like before Trump murders democracy. If people are upset that I disrupted their family vacation, I hope they'll think about the thousands of children being taken away from their parents because of Trump's racist immigration policies, or the parents of the hundreds of trans people murdered each year by transphobic and homophobic people, or the negative impacts of the tax bill on poor and middle-income Americans. I encourage anyone outraged that I interrupted a ride at Disney to check their privilege.

So it was spur of the moment. And asked about how he expected the crowd to react:

I thought I'd win the popular vote but the electoral college would probably override the will of the people.

I see what he did there. And asked how he thought Disney reaction would be:

The wisdom and compassion of Rafiki with the authoritarian exterior of Scar.

That man knows his Lion King. You can see Jay doing his thing, or at least 45 seconds of it, in the video below. Eventually security came and asked him to step outside, as one would expect. Jay was asked how that went and if Disney security interrogated him:

A nice security guard came and we talked about Patton Oswalt.

Wait, he can't leave it there. How did Patton come up in conversation? What does he have to do with this? Is Jay secretly seeing Happy the imaginary unicorn? We need more information here.

Disney security is amazing and they do a great job protecting the millions of people who frequent their parks every day. They could not have been more professional and courteous to me once they made sure I wasn't a legitimate threat to anyone.

So… he's hoping to go back one day, eh? Finally he was asked what he hopes will come from all this.

I'm really hoping he blocks me on Twitter after this. That or Cher retweeting me. If both those things happen I will die a very happy gay.

Sounds like Jay has the same dream as many of those who oppose Trump, "If I could turn back time…."
