Our First Look At Jodie Whittaker As The Thirteenth Doctor Who
As just aired on BBC One in the UK – and airing on BBC America later tonight, this is our first look at the Thirteenth Doctor in action, as portrayed by Jodie Whittaker, taking over from Peter Capaldi. And the baton was handed across.
The Doctor has just undergone a regeneration – not one that this Time Lord was particularly looking forward to. And one the fanbase seems rather divided on. But the Doctor had words for herself.
"Never be cruel, never be cowardly, never eat pears, hate is always foolish and love is always wise… ALways try to be nice and never fail to be kind oh and never tell anyone your name. No one would understand it anyway… except children…. Love hard, run fast, be kind." That's the advice the Doctor left to herself before the regeneration. But she may have more pressing concerns.
And so here she is… as with the previous Doctor, the first we see of her is her eyes…
But then the Doctor loses something.
Her wedding ring.
No longer married to River Song? A new Doctor in all sorts of ways?
But we have one word. "Brilliant".
Before she falls out of the TARDIS to her doom….
On 16 July 2017, BBC announced that Whittaker would become the thirteenth and first female incarnation of The Doctor in the British TV series Doctor Who, taking over the role from Peter Capaldi in the 2017 Christmas special episode "Twice Upon a Time", and appearing as the series lead in the eleventh series. Her arrival in the series will coincide with that of new executive producer and head writer, Chris Chibnall.
The new series of Doctor Who will begin sometime in 2018. A whole new show, a whole new Doctor and.. what was it the fanbase were fearing? A TARDIS full of bras? Well, as it stands, no TARDIS at all…
UPDATE: Oh go on, watch the whole thing yourself now…
