Nintendo Power Is Returning to Us – as a Podcast

Nintendo Power pressed its last issue in 2012, but now, five years later, the magazine is back as an official Nintendo podcast. The first podcast is already up, and it's hosted by the magazine's former Editor-in-Chief, Chris Slate. He talks about the Nintendo Switch's first year with Kit Ellis of Nintendo Minute and Damon Baker from Nintendo of America.

Slate also discusses the making of The Legend of Zelda: The Breath of the Wild with director Hidemaro Fujibayashi and producer Eiji Aonuma. Specifically, Fujibayashi and Aonuma discuss their approach to the mood of Breath of the Wild and how they wanted to make Link "cooler." I'm not sure if I agree with that; Link doesn't seem particularly cool in Breath of the Wild — just a bit more unpolished and earnest.

But it does explain why Link suddenly gets a mean-looking motorcycle in the game's latest DLC.

Though the podcast comes with the classic Nintendo Power branding, it isn't clear how often the podcast will put out new episodes. After all, Slate has called it a "passion project" and has claimed it to still be evolving. So we don't know just what exactly we'll end up with, but fans of the Nintendo-centric magazine can sit back and rejoice in the first podcast if nothing else.

Just seeing that logo is enough to bring back a whole lot of nostalgic feels in plenty of gamers.

For now you can listen to the podcast on Soundcloud below.
