Michelle Williams and Mark Wahlberg reshot All the Money in the World For Free

When it was revealed that director Ridley Scott would be replacing all of Kevin Spacey's scenes in All the Money in the World people began to wonder about the budget. It turns out, according to USA Today, that two of the biggest stars, Michelle Williams and Mark Wahlberg didn't ask to get paid for reshooting the movie.

"Everyone did it for nothing," said director Ridley Scott, who reshot 22 scenes of his intense drama about the infamous Getty kidnapping at a cost of $10 million. "They all came in for free."

Scott did not note that Christopher Plummer and the crew did get paid for their hard work. Williams said that the reason she did was the idea of all their hard work getting ruined by the actions of one man didn't sit well with her.

"I just thought that this experience that we had all treasured was going to be essentially flushed down the toilet," the actress says.

She gave up a Thanksgiving spent at her home and with her family to reshoot the scene because it meant so much to her.

"I adore (Scott), worship him, would do anything for him," Williams says. "I hated that this man's time and expertise and gentlemanly-ness was going to be kind of for naught. So when I got the phone call about the change of plans I was thrilled. I was enlivened, it picked me up off the couch a little bit and got me excited. I said I'd be wherever they needed me, whenever they needed me. And they could have my salary, they could have my holiday, whatever they wanted. Because I appreciated so much that they were making this massive effort."

The fact that Williams and Wahlberg were willing to go back and do reshoots over a holiday for nothing says a lot about how much this movie meant to them. It also sets a great precedent if other movies wanted to do these sort of last minute reshoots for good reasons.

The story of the kidnapping of 16-year-old John Paul Getty III and the desperate attempt by his devoted mother to convince his billionaire grandfather Jean Paul Getty to pay the ransom.

All The Money In The World, directed by Ridley Scott, stars Mark Wahlberg, Christopher Plummer, Michelle Williams, Charlie Plummer, and Stacy Martin. It will be released on December 22nd.
