Another Way To Tickle The Brain: We Review Expand On PS4

Expand is a puzzle game that was released on PC back in 2015 and has finally made its way to console for the PS4 two years later. The game will have you playing as a small pink square that will move around the black and white maze that is created in front of you. The objective is quite simple: get to the end of every stage and progress on to the next one. Sounds easy, right? Not so much in this particular title which will be giving your brain a workout for days.

When a new map is created you'll see the playing area marked out in white. As you move your piece forward, new sections will open up or new obstacles and challenges will be transformed into black pieces of the map. It's up to you to navigate your way through them and get to your destination unscathed. When you do reach a checkpoint, the map will reset and give you something new. However, if you are crushed by the level, you'll start over from the start of where you're at to try it all over again from a different angle to add some difficulty.

That's pretty much the game in a nutshell, and beyond the amazing soundtrack, there isn't much else to speak of beyond it being one of the better puzzle games of the year. There are moments where the game tends to become tedious because you've done these types of puzzles a dozen times over. I highly recommend it for puzzle fanatics, and I also recommend going out and finding the piano soundtrack for this game if you enjoy subtle mood music as you work on something new.
