Mech Cadet Yu is returning with a new story arc and collected edition of the first story arc in January with Mech Cadet Yu #5, and BOOM! Studios has released an early 5 page preview for the book. Originally planned as a mini-series, Mech Cadet Yu, by Amadeus Cho creators Greg Pak and Takeshi Miyazawa and colorist Triona Farrell was upgraded to an ongoing back in August.

“MECH CADET YU was originally going to be a four issue mini, but because of tremendous support from readers and retailers, we got upgraded to an ongoing. I’m hugely grateful—I love writing this book so much!” said Pak in a press release. “So I’m thrilled that BOOM! Studios is giving retailers an exclusive window with the first trade collection. And I’m hoping the trailer will help us share the fun with new readers. Thanks so much to everyone—hope ya dig!”

Oh yeah. Greg Pak released a trailer. Check that out:

“I am so grateful to be able to continue drawing the world of MECH CADET YU,” added Miyazawa. “There is nothing more rewarding than having a passion project being supported by so many readers and retailers. Thank you so much for your continued interest and enthusiasm. I am so proud of this book!”

To go along with the new issues, BOOM! is releasing a special comic shop EXCLUSIVE limited edition Mech Cadet Yu Vol. 1 Discover Now Edition, which the publisher promises will never be reprinted, probably because there’s not enough ink to print its title again. Check out five pages from the upcoming Mech Cadet Yu #5 below.

The critically-acclaimed series follows the story of Stanford Yu, a young janitor who is unexpectedly chosen to join the storied ranks of the Mech Cadets of the Sky Corps Academy. Once a year, giant robots from outer space come to Earth to bond with the cadets to defend the world from terrifying aliens known as the Sharg. After he unintentionally bonds with an off-course robot, Yu is thrown into training, hoping to prove he is worthy of being there at all.

About Jude Terror

A prophecy says that in the comic book industry's darkest days, a hero will come to lead the people through a plague of overpriced floppies, incentive variant covers, #1 issue reboots, and super-mega-crossover events.

Scourge of Rich Johnston, maker of puns, and seeker of the Snyder Cut, Jude Terror, sadly, is not the hero comics needs right now... but he's the one the industry deserves.
