New Tomb Raider Movie Poster, Now with a Real Neck

It was back in September when the first poster for the rebooted Tomb Raider film was unearthed. It showed Alicia Vikander standing back towards the viewer but head turned to the side. That's all good and well, until someone notices that Vikander's neck was photoshopped to a near-comedic degree.

It seems that between Warner Bros. and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, they've been working on a new poster. This time they at least managed to not mess up Lara's proportions, although now she looks more like a particular archery-specializing heroine from a particular franchise belonging to Lionsgate.

Now that's a far better poster (assuming that the "static portrait that looks like a medium-grade cosplay photo" vibe is what they were after).  It actually reads a lot more of Hunger Games' Katniss Everdeen than it does of the wealthy adventurer. Perhaps if she'd at least still had her iconic ice pick included in the frame it would give it of a distinct character identity.

But for anyone who also might notice the background coloration and light rays on the poster for The Shape of Water and we get a combination of these two:

Roar Uthaug is directing the series restart from a script by newcomer Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Alastair Siddons.

In addition to Vikander, Tomb Raider also stars Dominic West as Lara's father, Walton Goggins as the villain, Mathias Vogel. Daniel Wu plays Lu Ren, Hannah John-Kamen as Sophie, Kristein Scott Thomas as Anna Miller and Nick Frost.

Tomb Raider has a March 16, 2018 release date.
