Marvel to Collect Larry Hama and Ron Wilson's Wolfpack — All of It

While Brute Force may be the most unexpected upcoming Marvel Comics collection, this is an unexpected one, too. And again, one I remember picking up off the newsagent stands in 1988. Wolfpack by Larry Hama, Ron Wilson, and Kyle Baker, initially a graphic novel, then a 12-issue limited series, a look at urban street life by way of superheroics that Hama dropped out of after #3 and Baker with #4, Wilson wrote it until #5 and then John Figueroa wrote the rest, turning the series into more standard superheroic fare from thereon in.

And a series that looked at the damage that politics, crime, and guns could do to a generation became one in which the team could band together, pick up guns and take down all the bad guys. They then disappeared into limbo until reappearing with different members in House of M.

It's an interesting experiment that fell apart soon after it went to series — but an unlikely collection. Could the trademark be in jeopardy? The collection is published in August 2018.

They are Bronx teenagers chosen for their extraordinary abilities, trained in hand-to-hand combat by the mysterious Mr. Mack until their strength and courage are forged as hard as steel. They are…the Wolfpack! According to legend, they're part of a millennia-old order that serves as righteous balance to the villainous Nine – a group completely devoid of compassion, mercy or charity. And together the 'Pack will fight to save their home from anything the Nine can throw at them. They are martial artist Rafael Vega, bruiser "Slag" Slagley, ninja-skilled Slippery Sam, speedy Sharon and master-planner "Wheels" Wolinski -heroes for the mean streets of the 1980s! But with guns blazing and swords clashing, will all of them survive all-out war for the South Bronx?
