Star Wars: The Last Jedi – Porgs Porgs Porgs

Porgs, porgs, porgs. That's all Star Wars fans are talking about. Whether they are breathlessly buying a ton of merch or being a giant grump in the corner about how these little things are worst things to ever happen to Star Wars. So what are they exactly? Entertainment Weekly looked at these cute little birds to get a better idea of what they are and if they're dangerous.

Porgs are based on the various seabirds that director Rian Johnson saw around the island that they used for Ahch-To. According to Anthony Breznican, who wrote the article for EW, there is a temple on the island and the monks there would eat the seabirds that lived nearby. So has Luke been eating porgs? We don't know yet but they are pretty cute. However, one porg may be cute but what about a flock of them? John Boyega

"I just remember doing some stuff and seeing a lot of porgs around," John Boyega tells EW. "And they are interesting, but for me, I had a love/hate relationship with them. They're very, very cute, but when you put them in a bunch, in holes, on the Millennium Falcon, that's when they start to become really, really freaky."

Freaky eh? Well anything in great numbers can be a nuisance and it sounds like we might have a flock of porgs in the Falcon causing all sorts of problems.

"They've got real big eyes, all bunched together," Boyega says. "There were, like, little tiny ones and little big ones that would just…yeah, it looks like a rash."

How can you not love the awesome photoshops that are being inspired by them though?

Summary: Having taken her first steps into a larger world in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015), Rey continues her epic journey with Finn, Poe and Luke Skywalker in the next chapter of the saga, Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi, directed by Rian Johnson, stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Mark Hamill, Oscar Isaac, Carrie Fisher, and Adam Driver. It will be released on December 15th.
