Netflix Has Cut All Ties With Kevin Spacey

The professional fallout just keeps coming for Kevin Spacey. In a rare, but welcome, example of white men actually being punished for being scumbags, Netflix has announced that they are severing all ties with Spacey. In a statement posted by USA Today Netflix announces that they won't be involved with Spacey on any level including House of Cards.

Kevin Spacey

"Netflix will not be involved with any further production of House of Cards that includes Kevin Spacey. We will continue to work with (producer Media Rights Capital) during this hiatus time to evaluate our path forward as it relates to the show. We have also decided we will not be moving forward with the release of the film Gore, which was in post-production, starring and produced by Kevin Spacey."

Spacey has been, rightfully, under fire since the allegations of sexual abuse were made by actor Anthony Rapp. While not denying those allegations, Spacey stated he did not recall the incident, but decided that was the moment to come out as a gay man for the first time. The move has been heavily criticized by members of the LGBTQ+ community. But coming out in response to being accused of sexual assault of a minor conflates those two things. That somehow Spacey being gay has anything to do with him being a predator.

USA Today reached out to Spacey's representation for a comment but he hasn't gotten back to them.
