LA Noire Will Be Too Big To Fit On The Nintendo Switch's Internal Drive

The Nintendo Switch is many things, but it does not boast a particularly large internal drive. At 32 GB, your phone probably has more internal storage than the Switch does. For the most part, it isn't too difficult. Most users just slot in an SD card to increase their storage space, much like they've done for the 2DS and 3DS handheld consoles for years. That doesn't stop us from all sitting around and sighing when games come out that are too large to fit on the console without extra storage space. Because if the game can't fit on the internal drive at all, well, its something of a hilarious oversight.

With The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and LA Noire coming to the console, well, there's just going to be a lot of games that won't fit on the standard Switch.

Today, Rockstar revealed via a post on their support page that the eShop version of LA Noire for the Nintendo Switch is too big to fit on the system's internal storage. Which, isn't a surprise. LA Noire was a massive game file back when it first released and porting the game to a new console won't be fixing that. Rockstar's post goes into further detail about the storage requirements, which differ depending on what version of the game you choose to pick up.

If you decide on the physical cartridge version, expect a 14GB download before you can play which contains "required gameplay data" as well as "general bug fixes and improvements" while  a digital copy of the game will require the use of a separate microSD card because the game's file size is 29 GB. And with the Switch's operating system taking up 6.2 GB of its 32GB drive, well, you're SOL even if there's nothing else saved to your Switch's internal drive.

The console's limited storage space compared to game file sizes has been a major mark against it since before the console even launched back in March. That said, it's relatively cheap to just buy a decent sized microSD card to upgrade the storage space. So at this point, the list of games too big for the Switch is more ridiculous than angst-worthy.
