Batman: White Knight #2 Gets Very Meta Over Harley Quinn's Different Looks… (SPOILERS)

When Harley Quinn appeared in Suicide Squad, she had quite a different look than the traditional harlequin costume, indeed the comic book look to the character has also been reinvented ahead of the movie for the DC New 52.

The change in looks was heavily criticised at the time, swapping a full body suit for a series of crop tops, hot pants and cleavage cuts.

Well, in today's Batman: White Knight #2 by Sean Murphy is published today. As the cured Joker returns home to those more familiar with his other persona. Including a certain Harley Quinn.

Or is she? Murphy seems to give a certain meta-level message.

Two Harley Quinns. The originals and the one who had plenty of revamped looks. Now this is one of those "Elseworlds" type affairs, telling stories out of DC Comics continuity that couldn;t be told within it. But these kind of stories have a habit of breaking their way into the main continuity as well.

And the change in Harleys – one that the Joker never noticed – all down to the original Harley Quinn leaving him. And another Harkley literally replacing her. It's not a Metal crossover but it is a Meta one…

Drink your tea, Joker.

But could this provide a route for Harley Quinn fans to get their old Harley back? Especially as current Amanda Conner creators Jimmy Palmiotti, Amanda Conner and Chad Hardin are moving on? Or will the promise of Suicide Squad 2 be too much?
