The DC Universe Could Have Been A Lot Crazier, But The Original Suicide Squad Stopped It, It Seems…

Remember when Marvel Comics established that as well as being director of SHIELD, Agent Nick Fury had a weekend gig as The Man On The Wall, shooting alien invaders of Earth from a very, very long way away? A role that the Winter Solider took over? And I have no idea who is meant to be taking that role now? I'm sure someone in the comments will tell me.

Well, in recent issues of Suicide Squad, we have encountered a decades-old version of Task Force X, led by Rick Flag's grandfather, who seemed to do similar. And all of the actual craziness of alien encounters on the DC Earth being the ones that just slipped through. Turns out that the only thing stopping a full-scale Kryptonian invasion… was them.

SUICIDE SQUAD #28
(W) Rob Williams (A) Eduard Petrovich (CA) Tony S. Daniel
"THE SECRET HISTORY OF TASK FORCE X" part two! Strapped to a rocket, sent into orbit and dumped unceremoniously into a decrepit old satellite floating hundreds of miles above the earth, things have never seemed worse for the Suicide Squad-at least until they're set upon by an incredibly deadly alien monster. Yeah, that's worse. But at the heart of the mysterious space station hides a pair of long-lost DC characters ready to shake Task Force X to its very foundation.
