Fear The Walking Dead Season 3: Behind The Scenes Of The RV Scene

Last night's Fear The Walking Dead featured the Ranch threatened by a huge wave of zombies. The survivors must come up with a plan to make a wall of RVs to protect themselves. It's not a bad idea — until there are enough zombies moving against the same RV to tip it over. The scene is a bit crazy, with lots of moving parts, a tipping over RV, a bunch of zombies fighting survivors, and other assorted craziness. The crew needed to make it all work, make it seem like there were thousands of zombies — and do it all safely.

The video below shows how it was done. It includes comments from actress Alycia Debnam-Carey who plays Alicia Clark and is one of the big factors in the scene. We also hear from the episode director Alrick Riley, writer Wes Brown, and a few others talking about how the scene is set up and shot. How everything had to be meticulously storyboarded and planned out. They also show how they made it seem like there were more zombies than they actually had, and just how they were able to tip the RV over safely (hint: it involves 1 1/4 RVs).

Fear The Walking Dead airs Sundays on AMC and has four more episodes left this season.
