'Quality Of Life' Brings Jamie Lee Curtis To CBS For Funeral Home Sitcom
Jamie Lee Curtis (True Lies, A Fish Called Wanda) has been a little busy with the announcements lately. First came word that Curtis would be reprising her role as Laurie Strode in a sequel-reboot of the Halloween franchise, executive produced by the original film's creator John Carpenter. Variety is now reporting that Curtis will be starring in and executive producing a new multi-generational sitcom for CBS called Quality of Life. Janis Hirsch ('Til Death, Will & Grace) will write the script, with Curtis, Hirsch, Eric and Kim Tannenbaum will executive produce under the CBS Television Studios production banner.
Quality of Life is a multi-generational sitcom set at a family-run funeral home, tackling life through the unique perspective that growing up in a funeral home gives you. Curtis would be taking on the role of family matriarch.
The news of the potential series follows on the heels of news that Curtis will be reprising her iconic role as Laurie Strode in the upcoming Halloween film. Set to begin filming this fall, the film is being written by David Gordon Green and Danny McBride, with Green directing. In this direct sequel to Halloween I & II, Curtis' character is expected to have her final (???) confrontation with the masked killing machine that's haunted her through two previous (in canon) films. Carpenter will executive produce the new film with Malek Akkad producing for Trancas and Jason Blum producing for Blumhouse. Green and McBride will also executive produce under Rough House Pictures.
Curtis has starred in films such as Trading Places, My Girl and Blue Steel throughout her career, and currently has three film projects in varying stages of production. From the television side, Curtis recently appeared in both seasons of the Ryan Murphy-produced Fox anthology series Scream Queens; and previously had roles in New Girl and NCIS.
