The Locke Family continues to grow, as Hulu announced this week that Nate Corddry (Mom, Harry’s Law) is set to join Locke & Key, Hulu’s one-hour horror/fantasy drama adaptation of the IDW comic by Joe Hill and artist Gabriel Rodriguez. Corddry will be joining previously announced castmates Frances O’Connor, Megan Charpentier and Jackson Robert Scott. Hill will be adapting his own work to series, with in-demand It director Andy Muschietti directing.
Corddry will play the Locke children’s uncle Duncan, who (with the help of boyfriend Brian Rogen) is looking to help the family come to terms with his brother’s death as they transition into a mysterious new home. While Duncan believes that there must be logical explanations for what’s going-on, the family begins to realize that their beloved uncle might be harboring some secrets of his own.
A heart-wrenching and horrific take on the “haunted house” genre, here’s an overview of the series:
“Following their father’s gruesome murder in a violent home invasion, the Locke children return to his childhood home of Keyhouse in secluded Lovecraft, Massachusetts. Their mother, Nina, is too trapped in her grief—and a wine bottle—to notice that all in Keyhouse is not what it seems: too many locked doors, too many unanswered questions. Older kids Tyler and Kinsey aren’t much better. But not youngest son Bode, who quickly finds a new friend living in an empty well and a new toy, a key, that offers hours of spirited entertainment. But again, all at Keyhouse is not what it seems, and not all doors are meant to be opened. Soon, horrors old and new, real and imagined, will come ravening after the Lockes and the secrets their family holds.”
O’Connor has been tapped for the role of matriarch Nina Locke; with Charpentier on-board as Kinsey Locke, and Jackson Robert Scott set to portray the youngest Locke sibling, Bode.
Hill and Carlton Cuse (Lost, Bates Motel) are shepherding Locke & Key with IDW Entertainment. Cuse is serving as showrunner and executive-producing the pilot with Hill, Barbara Muschietti, Lindsey Springer, Ted Adams and David Ozer of IDW Entertainment; and David Alpert and Rick Jacobs from Circle of Confusion.
