Carla Speed McNeill To Draw Empowered Spinoff 'Sistah Spooky's High School Hell'

Empowered by Adam Warren is one of the greatest have-you-cheesecake-and-eat-it comic book projects, a book that is woke as hell but manages to use that to show characters in some of the most sexploitative poses imaginable. A superhero, Emp, trying to get respect, win the day and save the world, even though her very powers only encourage her foes to bind and gag her on a repeated basis, yet not only finds a way through but wins self respect and the respect of others. Adam Warren has been writing and drawing the comic as a series of digest-sized graphic novels for some time, with single issue colour spinoffs with other artists.

In December, however, he will be collaborating with Finder/No Mercy artist Carla Speed McNeil (and a personal favourite – much less guilty) on a new series with Empowered and her superheroic rival Sistah Spooky as they go back somewhere that Emp only has dread for. And for the first time for Empowered, an actual monthly series.

Empowered & Sistah Spooky's High School Hell #1 is published by Dark Horse Comics on December. I think that's great news. In a recent interview with Pop Culture News, McNeil told them.

Well, Adam Warren and I have been talking about how I need to draw something for him for years now. I'm finally going to do that next year. I'm going to do an Empowered short series. And he gave me the character I wanted. I get to do Sister Spooky! She's going to be great.
