It looks like those reports that said New Mutants and Deadpool 2 had wrapped turned out to be false. Director Josh Boone took to Instagram today to share a picture of the logo for the movie and to say that they were going into their final week of filming.

Even if the timing was a little off, this is still a very short turnaround for a major blockbuster. This is being sold as a horror movie, which are usually shot quick and cheap, but there’s still time. We can expect there to be some reshoots as the movie gets a little close, but stars like Maisie Williams have other obligations.

It’s going to be interesting to see how this movie is marketed when we finally start seeing some footage. Until then, we know that the principal filming is about to wrap up, which means that Ryan Reynolds photo from the other day means that Deadpool 2 is likely still filming, as well.

Summary: The story of the New Mutants, a team of mutant heroes comprised of the first graduates from Charles Xavier’s school.

X-Men: New Mutants, directed by Josh Boone, stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Alice Braga, Maisie Williams, Charlie Heaton, Blu Hunt, and Henry Zaga. It will be released on April 18th, 2018.
