Rosario Dawson To Narrate 'Artemis', Andy Weir's Follow-Up To 'The Martian'

Yesterday, Audible announced the upcoming release of Artemis, Andy Weir's follow-up novel to The Martian… and it's being narrated by Rosario Dawson.

Artemis will be arriving on November 14th and according to THR.com:

"[Artemis] follows a small-time criminal who, while plotting the perfect crime, gets caught up in a conspiracy to control the moon's first and only city."

The city is, of course, named Artemis and the criminal is Jazz Bashara. Dawson, who has been the breakout character of the Netflix's Marvel series as Claire Temple, will appear in person at the New York Comic Con on October 5th along with Weir (by satellite) to promote the novel and audiobook.

Dawson describes Jazz as:

"A highly intelligent, devil may care, female character who ends up in an otherworldly mystery in the first and only city on the moon."

Artemis is already being developed by 20th Century Fox and New Regency as a movie. Perhaps they should look at Dawson to star, as Weir said:

"I'm such a big fan of Rosario Dawson and am thrilled she will be narrating Artemis for Audible. Her incredible talent and voice are perfect for bringing my heroine, Jazz, to life, and adding a wonderful new dimension to the world I've created."

Over the last year or two, I have become and audiobook junkie. I used to listen to them when I'd do long wrong trips for conventions. But now that I used Audible and have them on my phone, I'm going through a couple books a month. The thing I learned is that a good narrator can make a book better — or worse.

I tore through Jim Butcher's Dresden Files because James Marsters was reading them. Yet, I am hesitant to read his other series because the narrator samples didn't click with me. Already inclined to like the book because of the name Artemis (same as my pit bull), and having really liked Weir's work on The Martian, adding Dawson makes it a book I'll pre-order.

The audiobook will be available exclusively on Audible, and you can preorder it now.
