Report: Apple, Amazon, And Warner Bros In A Three Way Dance For James Bond Film Rights

Though Warner Bros is reportedly the frontrunner to take over the James Bond franchise distribution rights, a new report claims that both Apple and Amazon have risen to challenge them. This battle can only be decided one way: with a THREE WAY DANCE!

Report: Apple, Amazon, And Warner Bros In A Three Way Dance For James Bond Film Rights

According to THR, the tech giants are looking to capture the rights to the franchise, which is one of the few successful franchises that hasn't yet been turned into a shared cinematic universe of the scale of Star Wars or Marvel. A deal with Amazon or Apple would presumably focus heavily on creating Bond TV shows and other areas outside of feature films, though feature films are reportedly what franchise producers Eon are most interested in. Of course, Warner Bros knows a little something about TV itself, and has had success turning its DC Comics brand into a successful series of TV shows and animated movies in addition to feature films.

If Amazon or Apple could expand their empires into the feature film world, on the other hand, they could be unstoppable. Amazon in particular runs its own streaming content service, owns the online retail business for pretty much every kind of product, and has recently broken into the grocery store industry with a purchase of Whole Foods. Imagine going to the theater to watch Amazon's latest James Bond movie, stopping at Whole Foods on the way home to pick up some cage-free eggs, a rasher of grain-fed pork bacon, and some organic gin and vodka, bringing them home, lightly scrambling the eggs and mixing up a Vesper martini, then sitting down in front of your TV to watch a James Bond show on your Fire TV stick, and afterward settling down in bed to read some Ian Fleming e-books on your Kindle Paperwhite. Honestly, we have to say you're a little bit obsessed with this whole James Bond thing. We've been talking to your mother, and she agrees that this has gotten out of control. Maybe try to find some other interests? A girlfriend, perhaps? A boyfriend? Whatever makes you happy. It's important to have a balance, and it's only your best interests we're looking out for.

What were we talking about again?

Oh yeah, so with Warner Bros leading the pack and Amazon and Apple nipping at their heels, the fight over the James Bond rights could get very interesting in the near future. Especially if, as THR reports, Chinese investors decide to get involved in raise the stakes.
