Marvel Contest Of Champions Updates Alliance Wars

Marvel's Contest of Champions game is rolling out some big changes with update 15.0, and it's more than just adding the Kingpin and Medusa to the game. A new video released walks through some of the changes including a new Map for Alliance Wars. Players have been working on the same map for over a year.

The first thing you'll notice is the size of the map — it's gone from 64 nodes to 100, which is a huge increase for some alliances that just squeak through to the end. But to help you get through the increased size, they're decreasing the energy refresh time from 90 minutes to 60. They're also introducing portals to the map and changing up the nodes to include boosts that will encourage the use of more diverse defenders. But the really good news is that they've removed all incidents of thorns and slashed tires on all difficulty levels. Those were ridiculous.

Another change is the areas of difficulty. It used to be you could run up the middle towards the boss fairly easy while the outer edges held some of the more difficult fights. But now it's flipped, and the outer edges are more manageable while the inner path will be more difficult, increasing as you get nearer the final fight. Oh, and there are five mini-bosses.

Also there are some changes in scoring. First up, to go with the idea of creating more diversity in defenders, you get a bonus for each unique defender added. This encourages player to bring different heroes rather than just stacking Spider-Man over and over again. Also they're removing defender kill point and increasing attacker kill points.

They will be upping some of the boosts that players can use and introducing three new boosts specifically for alliance wars.
