Detriot Lion Punter Sam Martin Steps Up For Hurricane Relief

We've been covering the work of Houston Texans J.J. Watt to raise money for hurricane relief. As of now he's over $13 million and climbing, an amazing amount as he tries to help out his hometown. But another NFL player is stepping up as well, one from farther north. Michigan to be specific. Sam Martin, the punter for the Detroit Lions, is pushing a campaign to Stuff a Semi with goods and take it down to the folks in need. He posted these two images showing the times and places the trucks will be set up for donations this weekend.

Martin added that the donations are not limited to what's listed above, statying that  anything can help, including pet food. And then, with the thought of pet food in his mind, Martin added that he would donate 6 lbs of pet food himself for every retreat he received to the following video up to $10,000 worth of food.

As you can see, the video has already been retweeted close to 400,000 times. Someone called him out, saying why not just donate the food without asking people to retweet / praise you. Martin's response was that the retweets were to help spread the word about the Stuff a Semi program and had nothing to do with praise.

Detriot has been one of the most economically effected areas in the country, with many people struggling every day… yet here is a group trying to put together supplies for people in need on the other end of the country… that is amazing.
