So… About That Secret Empire #10 Ending We Were Promised (SPOILERS)

It was the story that a cosmic cube began. Kobik, the cosmic cube that had gained sentience and decided to make things better for people. Including after some heavy influence from the Red Skull, making everyone Hydra.

So… About That Secret Empire #10 Ending We Were Promised (SPOILERS)

When the Secret Empire story began, the expectation from many was that the cosmic cube would be used to just reverse everything, save the day, make Captain America non-Hydra and bring back anyone inconveniently dead back from the brink.

Marvel – and the Secret Empire writer Nick Spencer – went out of their way to scotch this expectation.

And Tom Brevoort, saying,

So moving into the finale, with issue #10, the heroes across the Marvel Universe will be pushed to the breaking point as we race to the exhilarating climax we've been planning for months. Oh, and let me say again: we're not going to use the Cosmic Cube to simply reverse everything away—the stakes matter, maybe more than they ever have before.

Of course, we wouldn't want to spoil anything about Secret Empire #10 out tomorrow…. even if Marvel did.

Really? I'll take that as an implicit endorsement.

Okay, okay, I won't.

But… yeah, it's the cosmic cube. From what I hear through a game of telephone/Chinese whispers. Not as in, reverse time, or wiping everything out, Las Vegas still happened (and Scarlet Spider is going to be a laugh riot as a result), the takeover still happened. But putting it all back in the box and sorting out Cap and the history of whatever went down at the end of World War II.

The cube. And no, no one could imagine another outcome.

Now, how about the new T&C wording revealed in Secret Empire #10?  Wasn't Generations meant to spin out from this issue? Who on earth was the earlier narrator meant to be? Will a "previous save point" be enough to rehabilitate Steve Rogers? And will the ending make you… barf? Plenty for the Omega epilogue to deal with…

Find out on Wednesday. Secret Empire #10 is by Nick Spencer, Steve McNiven, Jay Leisten, Rod Reis, Ron Lim, David Marquez, Paco Medina, Juan Vlasco, Jesus Aburtov and Matthew Wilson.
