The People Behind The Uncharted Movie Want It To Be The Next Indiana Jones

The movie based on the Uncharted video games has been sitting in development hell for years. As video game adaptation after video game adaptation continued to fail there was little hope for Nathan Drake to make it to the big screen. That is until Tom Holland was cast in the lead role and director Shawn Levy was brought onto the Sony lead project. Holland is a hot actor for Sony as he's just come off their reboot of Spider-Man. Levy recently sat down with Nerdist to talk about what he wants from the project.

"I met with Tom Holland and he put it really succinctly," Levy explained. "If we do the origin of Drake, that hasn't been done before." He called it a "treasure hunting film with attitude" that adds context you wouldn't get from simply playing the game. "It's a Drake chapter that hasn't been told … an Indiana Jones story for a generation that didn't grow up on Indiana Jones."

The first response we have to "wanting Indiana Jones" is that we're already getting another Indiana Jones movie. Now, that is probably going to be Ford's last Indiana Jones movie but we're still getting another. This isn't one of those series that movie geeks have failed to keep alive in the popular culture. Most kids know Indiana Jones so why do we need another one?

We have no additional information on the Uncharted movie, it doesn't have projected release date yet, but we do know it'll be an origin story because no one is sick of those.
