Riz Ahmed In Talks To Join Sony's Spider-Man Spin-Off 'Venom'

Sony is still moving ahead with their Venom movie and is looking to add another talented actor to the roster. According to Variety Riz Ahmed is in early talks to join the Spider-Man spin-off movie. There are currently no details as to who Ahmed would be playing but Variety is saying that he'll be "playing a popular Marvel Comics character." Venom will be separate from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Scott Rosenberg (Jumanji) and Jeff Pinkner (The Dark Tower) will write the script with Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) will be directing. Thus far the only confirmed cast member is Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock.

Ahmed has had a great year with his role on The Night Of earning him a SAG and Emmy nomination while his role as Bodhi Rook on Rogue One brought him to the forefront of the blockbuster scene.

Venom is rumored to start shooting this fall and has an October 5, 2018 release date. Sony declined to comment on the casting.
