Respawn Entertainment Is Supposedly Still "Heavily Invested" In Titanfall

Titanfall fans can rest easy this weekend, as Respawn Entertainment has revealed that the company has no plans to abandon the first-person shooter series anytime soon.

"It's important for us to keep the franchise going," Respawn CEO Vince Zampella recently told GameSpot, after noting that the sales for Titanfall 2 were good, but could have been better. "We have our franchise creative director, who's in charge of safeguarding the franchise in multiple formats and making sure it continues to grow," he added.

Zampella then went on to stress that the company is "heavily invested in the Titanfall universe," and that there's content they're working on that hasn't been announced yet. "We're working on more Titanfall —we're not announcing what that is yet, but there's a few other things in the works," he said. So it sounds like we either have a spinoff in the works or some new DLCs coming our way.

It's probably too early to call the unannounced content a sequel.

Shortly after the launch of Titanfall 2 last year, Zampella spoke to the possibility of a third installment, saying at that time he was unsure if there would be a Titanfall 3. Publisher EA has said it doesn't see the sequel's sales as an underperformance, which is always good news, and since the sequel's launch, Respawn has released a steady stream of DLC which have increased revenue. So we're going to be getting Titanfall 3 eventually, of that I'm certain. That day just isn't likely to be soon.

And since the studio soft-launched a mobile RTS game called Titanfall Assault back in May, with a hard launch of the game coming soon, it is possible this new content might be related. That, or it might be another spinoff.
