Dokudami Tenement, Exhibited For The First Time In The UK

Black Hook Press/Gallery Hakusen are exhibiting, for the first time in the UK, original art from the 1980s slice of life manga series Dokudami Tenement at Orbital Comics in London, right now.

Dokudami Tenement tells the fortunes of a group of single room dwellers who live on the margins of Tokyo society. The series ran in Weekly Manga Times from May 18th, 1979 until April 2nd, 1993, the work was hugely popular and subsequently collected into 35 volumes by the Japanese publisher Hobunsha.

The exhibition will also tie in with the UK release of the first volume of Dokudami Tenement in English. The limited edition Aizoban print will be for sale at the Orbital gallery during the length of the exhibition and at Safari Festival on the August 12th.
