CW President Forced To Defend The Supergirl And Mon-El Relationship

During his time at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, the network president Mark Pedowitz found himself having to defend the role of Mon-El on Supergirl. Pedowitz spoke about the character's heavy involvement in season 2 and how Mon-El (Chris Wood) would be back in season 3 at some point. the TCA member who asked the question then commented that, "Nobody wants that." Pedrowitz responded by saying, "I think people woudl disagree with you on that."

After, Pedowitz told TVline that he follows the shows and "I understand there is some backlash to [Mon-El]. I am a big fan of Chris Wood and Melissa [Benoist], and they get along great. And you know what, it's the right way to tell a story."

The fate of Mon-El is unknown at the moment after Supergirl released trace amounts of lead into the air, not enough to hurt humans but enough to kill Daximites. This forced Mon-El to leave the Earth only to end the season being pulled into an unknown portal. At this point Wood is still a series regular and he is dating Melissa Benoist off-camera.

In the comics, Mon-El is poisoned by lead and placed into the Phantom Zone to save his life where he is found centuries later by the Legion of Superheroes.
