Rob Liefeld Compares The Deadpool/Cable Dynamic To 'Rush Hour'

One of the great friendships of comics is coming to the big screen this summer, and people are getting antsy to know all about it. Deadpool 2 has promised to bring in the character of Cable, played by Josh Brolin, to go up against Wade Wilson, AKA Deadpool, played by Ryan Reynolds. Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld talked to ComicBook.com about the dynamic between the two characters and cited a pretty famous buddy cop movie:

"[Reynolds is] such a great actor. That's where it starts, and gravitas, and who else really is going to hold their ground with Ryan as Wade/Deadpool. That is energy unbridled, and so you've gotta hold your ground. When I see the two of them, I'm like, 'It's going to be comic book's equivalent to Rush Hour,' and I don't know if comic fans are ready for it. I think it's going to be great."

Liefeld went on to praise Brolin for his fantastic acting abilities:

"If you only see No Country for Old Men and Sicario, you've seen two great totally separate Josh Brolin performances. The Llewelyn who is sullen but determined and doesn't speak much but you follow him the whole time in No Country, and Sicario, he's this wild, shoot-em-up CIA guy.The guy is a tremendous actor."

Liefeld went on to elaborate on his claims about Deadpool and Cable on Twitter:

"Yes, I compared the dynamic of Cable & Deadpool to that of a buddy cop film. Take your pic from Lethal Weapon to Rush Hour to Turner & Hooch!! But better!!"

Sounds like it's going to be interesting to watch these two on screen this coming summer.

Deadpool 2, directed by David Leitch, stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller, Josh Brolin, Brianna Hildebrand, and Zazie Beetz. It will be released on June 1st, 2018.
