Disneyland To Debut MaxPass July 19th, At An Extra $10 Per Day

Disneyland is a great, historical park. The first of its kind in America, Walt Disney made damn sure the park would never be finished — even after his passing. As someone who basically lives at Disney World, though, I was let down by how outdated Disneyland felt — especially with it's lackluster apps and paper FastPasses (I'm just used to going on my WDW app and making my FastPass selections there). Well, it looks like Disneyland is now catching up. According to The Disney Parks blog:

"We are excited to announce that Disney MaxPass will launch July 19 at the Disneyland Resort! Disney MaxPass will help guests to maximize their experience at the Disneyland Resort by providing unlimited Disney PhotoPass downloads from the day, and by enabling the convenience of mobile Disney FASTPASS booking and redemption times while in the theme parks through the Disneyland App. If guests are not already registered for a Disney account, registration is fast and simple. Download the app and follow the prompts to register for an account. "

This sounds all well and good, but there's a downside. For Disneyland guests, this experience is $10 a day. And if you're an AP holder, it's $75 for the length of your pass, depending what level AP you have. In Disney World, you don't have to pay for this feature.

Disneyland amounts to roughly $100/day, which now takes the total to $110/day if you pick this option. Personally, I think that's utter crap. Clearly they have the technology, and they're not making WDW guests pay, so why not offer the same courtesy to DL guests? I understand wanting to make the guest experience easier and better, but come on. Shame on you, Disney.
