Someone Did A Popular Pokémon By State Map For 'Pokémon GO'
The internet never ceases to amaze me, even as I grow into a bitter and jaded old man who is about five years away from screaming the words "back in my day" when referring to games. The latest addition to the "Someone Did That?" file is Decluttr, who created a Pokémon map of which Pokémon are the most sought after in every state for Pokémon GO. It looks a little something like this.
Like most maps that do this, there's a lot of data sorting that goes into finding out how and why people choose what they choose based on region. The highlights of this are that Pikachu, obviously, was the most sought across the country after followed by Eevee in second. The map actually has two lists: the most popular in 2016 when the game first launched, and the most popular now at the one-year anniversary.
While states like Arizona, Delaware, Tennessee, and Mississippi are still stuck on their original choices from the beginning, only eight states have moved onto seeking out second generation Pokémon. Those would be Kentucky (Pichu), Minnesota (Umbreon), Montana (Smeargle), Togepi (New Hampshire), Tyranitar (Rhode Island), Utah (Umbreon) and Wyoming (Umbreon). What does this all mean? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Well, beyond the idea that these are the hardest to catch in certain areas, but that's about it. You can read the full article here.
